Residents dreams on the horizon for inclusive community park
Published: 28 February 2019
Friends of Gobions Park, a dedicated group of residents from East Tilbury and Linford are making steady progress in regenerating their green space for the benefit of local people thanks to a £10,800 grant for new park signs from the Council’s Community Environment Development Fund. This follows replacement of playground bark surfaces and repainting last Easter supported by S Walsh and Sons. The group are now looking forward to developing the next phase of their plan to guide future investments. They will be taking the thoughts and ideas of local residents into consideration during a range of planned events and activities this year.
Fraser Massey, Chair of the Friends of Gobions Park, said “We are all volunteers from the community striving to improve the park so everyone can be proud of it. It is a collective effort reliant on the support of local people, local businesses and the Council. We are very proud of progress to date and wish to thank the community and everybody who has supported us so far, including the Council, S Walsh and Sons and all for their generosity. We look forward to developing the next phase with residents and achieving more in coming years.”
Friends of Gobions Park’s mission is to provide a safe, warm and inclusive space, appreciated by local residents and visitors alike. The group are always looking for people who can spare a little time to help realise the dream.
